Mr. Abney brings to the “Square Team” many, vast and broad experiences.  Being born in rural GA in 1948, with his immediate and extended family consisting of all struggling social groups.  Living those early days in a two bed room rented home placed a seed deep into Michael’s soul; one of determination, to treat all people with dignity and create as much opportunity as possible for as many as possible; no matter where fait took him.

    After starting grammar school in a wooden school house in North Georgia and then graduating from Pepperell High School in 1967, Michael interred college at Garner-Webb where he played football for the Bulldogs prior to joining the U.S.M.C.;  Sgt. Abney had won the Leatherneck Award while at Paris Island an obtained a” KRYPTO Clearance” during his four year assignment. Prior to leaving the Marine Corp, Michael entered Kennesaw Jr. College (now Kennesaw State University); from KSU he continued on to the University of Georgia and earned his BBA in Management in June 1974; applied back to KSU and was also awarded a BBA in Management.

    Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the Milliken Company where he spent the next two years building a textile manufacturing plant from the ground up, hiring and training employees and becoming the plant’s process control manager. Although considered very successful in the textile environment;  after honing his skills, he moved on to pursue his true desire and that was to be free from corporations  and build his own company.

    Michael was successful in the financial services arena and became one of the initial RVP’s in a company that changed an industry. He went on to build three computer based companies in California and sold custom hardware and software to major corporations;  as well as being issued two trademark agreements with “Top Dog” companies in the beverage industry. 

    Michael has been involved in the residential and commercial construction industry for 30 plus years; from development and new construction, to managing single projects valued at more than 30 Million U.S. Dollars in the hospitality and commercial renovations industry, domestic and international.

    Mr. Abney has lived, created U.S. and International business, and developed lifelong friends in GA, TN, CA, ID, MT, Jamaica, Aruba, the Asian-Pacific Rim, Central America, South America and Europe.

    Michael’s core philosophy is simple; “no one has anything more valuable than his/her integrity, to one’s self and all those around them”. This belief is displayed best in the naming of one of his previously successful companies, Integrity Data Systems, Inc.

    Having spent years in developing a broad scope of business experience, including acquiring multiple real estate, Mr. Abney is committed in doing at least one more task; that is to assist the founders of Square Properties with their plans to expand their services offered through Residential and Commercial Sales, Leasing and Property Management.
